Ten Things I am Grateful For...

There are so many to choose from as I think about this question and seek to fulfill today's task: https://www.actionforhappiness.org/media/865781/april_2020.jpg . But here are the 10 I am choosing to share:

1. Moe. He is just pure love, being home with him these past few weeks has been the biggest gift. Cuddling with him all day, every day a blessing. Walking after work to get fresh air and refresh after long days at the computer a godsend. On Monday, he will be 12 years old... I can't believe he has only been with me 12 years as I can't remember life without him.

2. Troy. His coming to stay with us this week has been a gift. We have loved trying to put together daily schedules, sharing our home and our love with him. He reminds me every minute of every day of how differently people view the world and that there is no right and wrong way to see things, there is just different perspectives on things. I am thankful and grateful that we can provide him with a place where he feels safe and comfortable during this challenging time that he does not understand the things going on in the world around him.

3 & 4. Marley and Dani's safe arrival on Valentines Day. I am so grateful that they came to earth early, are safe at home and loved so much by all of my family. I am so sad that I can't see them and that they are growing so much during this time but I know that they are safe and loved, and we were able to see them shortly after they were born which sadly is not the case for babies being born today or on the day they were due to be born.

5. A home to live in, heat to heat my home. As I always say #firstworldproblems. I am beyond fortunate to have this...many people don't and I am thankful and grateful for the monthly mortgage payments I make to maintain my home.

6. My family. I am blessed to have a caring and loving extended family that lives near and far. Mostly near but right now it feels kinda far since we can not see one another. I miss them and know when we can get together again, we will be even more thankful for having each other.

7. My job. I am thankful to work with some of the most amazing people and educators in the world. I am blessed to be surrounded by their passion for their work and their care for students as their #1 priority.

8. Travel. I am blessed to have traveled so much and so far in my life as it has broadened my horizons and made me appreciate even more all the luxuries we have here. I have experienced and seen things that I wonder now if people will ever be able to experience and see again. I am grateful I had these opportunities to broaden my horizons as I believe they changed my perspective and view of life.

9. My friends. I grateful for friends who have reached out from near and far to check-in on me, Moe, and Troy to see if we are doing ok. I am thankful for the experiences past and present that I have had with friends, and even those who are no longer friends because I learned things from you.

10. Crossfit. How did I leave this for last? I wake up and start my day at 5:30 am 5-6 mornings a week with CrossFit because I LOVE the community, I LOVE my coaches, and I LOVE the physical exercise that I have not been able to replicate in any other fashion since my figure skating days. I miss this place like crazy and can not wait to get back to SOSF...I am even more grateful for all the positive changes this place and these people have brought to my life now.

The things I am grateful for during this time--- not commuting so I have time to sit and have a cup of coffee every morning & eat breakfast, take a half hour to learn italian, watch an episode of Tiger King everyday (I actually just LOVE the tigers, I have yet to figure out the storyline...), and I am still convinced I am going to figure out and take a big birthday trip this year and get my house redecorated at some point during all of this... so more to come!!

Stay well!!
